I come from a rural area on a small Hawaiian island so I find moving to a big city daunting. I have been to Chicago before but have never stayed for an extended period of time. Although I am not naive to city life (I spent a lot of my childhood in NYC and I have done quite a lot of traveling), I would love to have you answer Some questions that would make me feel more comfortable about moving:

Although I am not naive to city life (I spent a lot of my childhood in NYC and I have done quite a lot of traveling), I would love to have you answer Some questions that would make me feel more comfortable about moving:
What is a safe neighborhood that is not too costly to live in?
As far as big cities go, is it more expensive or cheaper than some?
Where is the best place (or chain of stores) to get groceries?
Is the public transportation good quality?
Focusing more on the metros, are they clean, efficient and cheap?
What fun acitivities are there to do in Chicago?
Where are YOUR favorite places to be in Chicago?
Thank you!
Things that are not a problem for me:
The winter. I always hear ‘it’s really cold!’ and I don’t need that clarification any more, thank you.
